My 2 year old dog (named Lily) is very hyper? Help!?
Get her some exercise, exercise, and more exercise. Most problems with hyperactivity, barking, and biting can be fixed for the most part with exercise. Take her outside and throw a toy, run, or play tug-o-war with a rope toy. People make the mistake of thinking small dogs are easy maintenance when in reality they are just as active and require just as much of the same kind of attention as larger dogs. She should be getting about one hour of good exercise broken up throughout the day and not just inside the house. Take her outside and let her explore. Giving her a chance to exercise her nose will also wear her out.
Reply:exercise her vigorously several times a day.

get her training -- she should definitely be taught that jumping on people and biting will NOT be tolerated, especially as she%26#039;s no puppy. research each problem individually for help on each one.
Reply:I have a Lhaso Apso/ shitzu cross rescued from a puppy mill and have learned from experience that they tend to be very demanding little tyrants when it comes to attention if permitted. (I am used to taking in much larger breeds). You can try holding the mouth closed for a short period of time, but I have found that the best way to stop a dog from mouthing people is to hold onto the tongue and bottom jaw frimly, but not hard while stating %26quot;off%26quot; or %26quot;no bite%26quot;. It is very uncomfortable for them and I have found that it works well on small and large breeds of dog alike. When you release, offer a firm chewing bone instead.

You may have to start at the beginning when it comes to jumping on people. When she jumps up, put her down and say no. Reward with a small treat if she stays down. As this breed can be quite stubborn. If she doesn%26#039;t listen, you can resort to placing her in a dog cage. These social butterflies hate being ignored and I have found that mine now sits at our feet and only jumps up on people that welcome it.

The worst thing you can do is yell. This breed seems to be very sensitive and this can lead to submisive urination.

While a Lhaso never loses it%26#039;s whimsical nature, they do slow down a little with age also. ( If you compare them to a three-year old child it sometimes helps).
Reply:Trust me let her run around as much as she can. I have a teacup chihuahua named tinkerbel and she did that for many months just let her go outside and just run!!!
Reply:I think everyone eles is right she needs exirsize maybe its her food is she eating any junk food or does she eat of the table?
Reply:She needs more exercise. A happy dog is a tired dog!
Reply:Are u sure it%26#039;s not the other way around? Dogs crave affection, praise %26amp; treats. If worse come to worse find a helpful breeder,Google,or Vetenarian hope this helps
Reply:You should think if more exercise and training for the dog.
Reply:You should take her for a really long walk maybe with her wearing a backpack with a couple of rocks in it.. A backpack will make the walk more tiring for your dog and she will be more relaxed at home. For the nipping and jumping I would suggest very firm discipline. You can redirect her attention using treats or a favorite toy.
Reply:She needs more exercise or another dog to play with obviously.

Take her for walks or get her a playdate with another small dog.
Reply:I Suggest you Take her on walks atleast once a day or run around with lily in a area with alot of open space. Also i would reccomnd that you get another dog that lily can run around with it will burn off some of her energy.

Reply:when she gets hyper put her in a room with the door shut when she calms down feed her a treat
