Although having said that , Why do people who record music %26quot;insist%26quot; on putting swear words on their music, I know the likes of Rappers think it makes them look hard, but surely they would sell just the same amount if not more, by not swearing.





As for the sexual content of a video, I think it is unnecessary, again I can see why it is put on. Why can%26#039;t recording artist bring back harmless videos, and funny ones at that?

She%26#039;s a silly publicity seeking cliche - just goes about it in a different way than getting her boobs out.

Reply:Yes, I must say, I agree. Every pop video has stomachs, cleavage, bums, thighs etc. showing. These girls gyrating in very suggestive ways that give young kids the message to go and have sex. Now as young as 11 year-old girls go and have sex and dress like sluts. I%26#039;d prefer if that 11 year-old girl was hearing the f word every now and then rather than being brainwashed into being one of those almost-naked women gyrating and imitating sex (and basically sucking up to some male singer). You know that tune by Pink (I don%26#039;t wanna be a stupid girl) that kind of sums it all up. There should be more inspirational pop songs out there like that! Pink rocks!

Rappers are idiots, they are the equivalent of people who smoke and spit in the street to look hard.
Reply:There will probably never be an end to this sort of blatant %26#039;over-sexualisation%26#039; of music whilst all the bosses of the record companies are mainly sad men who think of %26#039;it%26#039; every six seconds or so. I think we need to find a way of expressing our feelings without constantly using swear words and gratuitous sexual content in the media. Already %26#039;children%26#039; are having babies as soon as they hit puberty. By a constant diet of this sort of media we are teaching them that it is ok and perfectly %26#039;natural%26#039; and to have no self respect and to make choices before they are ready. No limits are placed on them by their parents and so they grow up thinking that they can do whatever they want. As for the swearing debate, it just shows the low level of education these %26#039;rappers%26#039; have. If they haven%26#039;t got a decent vocabulary, that%26#039;s nothing to be proud of, however most of them trade on their %26#039;poor%26#039; backgrounds and the hard times they had growing up etc so claim they are just expressing themselves. It would be a good idea if the record companies stated to their clients they wouldn%26#039;t be paying them the money to make the music if it contained swear words or anything which was likely to cause offence. If music is meant to inspire people and motivate the listener, then this would be no bad thing.
Reply:I agree with you. Maybe in today%26#039;s world we have, in general, lost our sensitivity and now accept the extreme as everyday occurrences. Perhaps with the sensory overload that is all around us, no matter how much we try to avoid it, we need more and more of a shock to get the same reaction we would have got a couple of decades ago. Images of wars, murder and terrorism are in the ether all the time now and are difficult to avoid. We have access to practically anything we want these days - extreme political views, pornography, even murders and suicides that I believe some of us are shutting down all together and feeling nothing because if we allow ourselves to feel things, it would come as a tsunami of emotion which no one could cope with. I also believe we have access to wonderful things so I suppose it%26#039;s all about reasoning and choosing but how are we taught to do that when this society leans so much towards consuming all before us for the fleeting sensation of taste, touch, emotion, etc.hence the obesity time bomb. I will now climb down off my soap box!
