How often do lilys bloom? I'm asking about the single stalked lily.?

We planted a bag of assorted lily bulbs which thrived and bloomed readily but now it seems they are all done blooming. Will they bloom again or is there something we need to do.

Yup, once a year is all they go. Dead head it and leave it til next year, it%26#039;ll come back.

Reply:Usually once a year. You should have the green stalk with the leaves-- it is busy storing energy to bloom next year-- so either plant annuals around them to kinda cover them up-- or just leave them alone until the stalks dry out on their own-- then you will want to remove the stalk with a gentle twisting motion. Wouldn%26#039;t hurt to feed them in the fall after they are dormant (cold weather)-- and these flowers with reproduce-- and spread.


There are many kinds of lilies--This is a very small partial list: there are %26quot;surprise%26quot; lily-- %26quot;naked lady%26quot; lily, %26quot;day%26quot; lily, %26quot;Asiatic%26quot; lily ( which is probably what you have since they%26#039;re everywhere the last 10 years or so)-- then the old fashioned lily-- the %26quot;tiger%26quot; lily-- it is orange, tall and has dark spots-- also has black %26quot;things%26quot; at the juncture of the leaf and stem which happens to be a seed!-- Lets not forget the %26quot;Easter%26quot; lily- that here in zone 7 can be planted outside. It takes a while for one of the seeds to grow to flowering size-- but fun to see what happens.
