Replanting and caring for a canna lily (king Humbert)?

i recently purchased a canna lily ( king hummbert) from a car boot sale iwas very pleased with it because it was about 18 inches high and looked very healthy . i took it home and replanted it in multypurpose compost then i watered and fed it . the following day i noticed that the leaves had began to curl up and they were starting to go yellow, so i do not know where i have gone wrong because i have even made sure that the fore mentioned plants are exposed to full sunlight most o the day ,so if there is any body out there who can help me i would be gratefull

Did you make sure that it was not root bound? The root would be wrapped around the inside of the previous pot. You mus fix this or the plant will die. To fix it leave it in the pot it is in now and then take a SHARP knife and about an inch away from where the plant goes into the soil plunge the knife in and pull out towards the sides of the pot. Do this all the way around. about every inch or two. then rewater and re-fertilize. It will help. If it wasn%26#039;t root bound then try another fertilizer some cannas are really sensitive to strong fertilizers. Good Luck.
