it is a yellow calla lily. it is still moist but the stalks are bending over. is there anything i can do to save it. i love calla lilies that is why he bought it for me and i really want it to be ok.
Help! my husband bought me a potted calla lily for Valentines. It is not looking good. How do i care for it?
Callas need a lot of light(full sun) while flowering...so they don%26#039;t usually do all that well as houseplants unless you have a large west-facing window...you could also use a grow light...full spectrum lamps are available at most garden shops...for more info, go to:

Good Luck
Reply:take it ot the vet...
Reply:I%26#039;m really not one to be giving advice about how to keep plants alive since I seem to kill all of mine, but I would try putting a stake (stick) in the dirt and loosely tying the stalks to the stake to give them support. Also, I have heard that it%26#039;s better to under water than to over water plants, so is it possible that you%26#039;re watering it too much? Again, just a thought - since I kill all of my plants.
Good luck!
Reply:Yes, read the answer that has BULB in it - the flowers %26amp; stalks will eventually die, but the bulb will remain. That%26#039;s what you keep in the ground in warm climates, dig up and replant later in cooler climates. It%26#039;s like a giant seed that grows again every year. Some, like gladiolas etc... give off smaller bulbs as they age and you end up with more and more each year. Eventually, the %26quot;parent%26quot; bulb may rot, but it%26#039;s produced lots of %26quot;babies%26quot;.
Bulbs are great! You may enjoy finding more of those in the garden centers, online and in gardening catalogs. If just planted in pots, you can enjoy in the house for a while, then plant outdoors for next season.
Reply:Once the flowers are dying, cut them off. The bulbs will still stay alive, and you can transplant them into your yard/pots once it gets warmer out. Depending on what zone you are in, you may have to dig them out again in fall and bring them inside until the following spring.
Reply:a calla lily needs to be in the ground they cant live inside it needs to be planted asap with the weather pemetting
Reply:Keep it watered, but don%26#039;t over-water. Put it near a window that gets some filtered sun. After it blooms out, a potted calla lily can then be transplanted to your garden. Plant in an area where it can spread as it propagates over the years. Ideally at least a 2 - 3 foot area. I planted some from a potted plant I received as a gift over 3 years ago and they come back each year.
Reply:Maybe you should transplant it to a place in a garden or in a much bigger pot.
Reply:yes cut the blooms and use in cut flower arrangement it will bloom again. The plant needs bright light, can be put out in the summer months They need lot of water as it evaporates, give plant food once a week Feb thru Nov. tranplant once ayear into a larger pot. good potting soil or compost 3/4 to soil 1/4. cut off old leaves. don%26#039;t plant near other plant outside as it doesn%26#039;t do well.
