... what's the floating lily for?

it's supossed to make your fish feel like they are in a natural enviroment which will calm them.. It can also give them a sense like they are out by a pond or something...
Reply:It's supposed to look decorative, and maybe give a fish something to hide near. Certain kinds of fish want to hide in plants at the bottom, and some want to hide in floating plants.
Reply:You put the plant at the bottom covering the base with rocks. The lily floats around at the top nicely if you don't have filter. I'm just wondering why you'd buy it if you didn't know what it was for. There are plenty of fake plants without the lily.
Reply:Well I use them for baby guppies to hide in so the other fish can't swallow them.
Reply:apparently people think it makes the fish "feel at home",

but wanna know a secret? floating flowers in fish tanks do NOTHING whatsoever and fish don't need them any more than they need umbrellas.
Reply:maybe it's just for decoration but maybe it's for other reasons also.
Reply:sorry
Reply:I think that floating plants can act as an anchor for a bettas bubble nest, but that's more so for real floating plants. i think this is just for decoration.
Reply:Its a decoration. If it is for a betta fish, they like to hide or at least mine does.
Reply:to make the fish bowl look more attractive
Reply:It's simply decorative. If you buy a suckerfish, it will want to hide somewhere also.
