They are red backed brutes that are completely destroying all my different types of lilies, they look so fabulous in flower too. I have taken to stalking the the plants and inspecting them, and as soon as I find any beetles I remove them and squash them, but as soon as I turn my back reinforcements have arrived.
I feel tempted to burn all my lilies as I cannot stand to see them being slowly destroyed, it is heartbreaking.
I have tried various sprays, but no go!
Please advise me somebody, I have heard that these beetles are fairly new to the UK, and cannot find many details on them.
I am disabled, and do not get out all that much, so I love my garden, and the scent from the lilies and the beautiful flowers I will really miss.
I welcome your advise!!!!
Regards,
Sharon.
