I would like some suggestions for a middle name for Lily?

If I have a boy, I'm naming him after my fiance. If I have a girl, I want to name her Lily. What are some good middle names for that name?

Reply:When i first noticed your question i noticed some of the middle name suggestions is rose. Yes Lily Rose is cute....but 2 flower names? A think it might be a tad to much but if you like that then go with it. I think Lily Elizabeth or Lily Marie would be simple and cute. I also love the combo of Lily Jean. Lily Jean is short and sweet. A middle name is still an important part of a name, even though it isn't said nearly as often. It should have a strong meaning that means so much to you as a parent. What ever the gender of the baby is, i'm sure you'll be a great, loving mom and that your baby will be happy and healthy =)
Reply:My granddaughter is Lily Abigail. They had originally thought of Lily Belle - I thought I was going to throw up, but thank God, daddy veto'd that one. Even though Lily Rose is two flowers, it is really cute!

And when i was coming up for a name for my daughter I wanted to try to give her a middle name that could act as a first name as well so If she hated her first name or there were 5 other girls in her class with that name then she can go by her middle name.

Reply:We had picked out the name Lily too, but then we found out it was a boy, but we were going to name a girl Lily Ann.
Reply:See, what I like to do is search through records of my family "history" and see if I like any of the names my ancestors had. It would honor them, and my daughter would have a piece of her family history in her name. For example, if you had a great-grandmother named Zinia, you might like Lily Zinia (example).





Another strategy (if you're still stuck), is to think of the second best name you can. Like, one that you were going to name your child before you came across Lily.





Also, keep in mind that once your daughter gets married (if she does), she'll keep her middle name, but not her last name. So, you might want to rethink giving her a middle name if you want your last name to be carried on.
