HARRY POTTER-mania!! What would happen to entire series, had WORMTAIL never betrayed JAMES POTTER&LILY EVANS?

Let’s assume Peter Pettigrew kept his loyalty toward the Marauders and Order of Phoenix. As the Secret Keeper, he never sold James Potter and Lily Evans to Lord Voldemort, neither did he ever change his allegiance to the Death Eaters.

What would happen to Harry Potter then?

What would happen to Harry’s entire life and adventure in Hogwarts?

What would happen to Neville Longbottom and his family?

What kind of Wizardry and Muggle world Harry’s family and friends would face then?

How about the Dursleys?

Would Harry ever notice about them had his parents never been murdered by the Dark Lord himself?

What about the Marauders (James, Sirius, Remus, Peter), Lily, and Snape’s relationship?

What would happen to Order of Phoenix and Death Eaters?

What would Lord Voldemort do then to fulfill the prophecies?

Anyway, thanks for your all feedbacks here....

HARRY POTTER-mania!! What would happen to entire series, had WORMTAIL never betrayed JAMES POTTER%26amp;LILY EVANS?
Even if Peter Pettigrew never betrayed James and Lily's location to Voldemort, I still believe that they would've been discovered and killed. As we know from the prophesy, before their deaths James and Lily had defied Voldemort three times. To do so, while the Wizarding World was living in terror because of him and his Death Eaters would've required bravery and daring, both of which they had -- true to their Gryffindor nature. Considering those characteristics, how long could we reasonably expect them to live in hiding? I know that their lives were on the line, but I imagine that they'd have gone stir crazy after awhile. James in particular would've found it extremely difficult to live in isolation since he was such an outgoing person and quite popular. And, remember what he risked when he ran with the Marauders while Lupin was in his werewolf form, all in the name of fun and excitement. I think that just like his dear friend, Sirius, James would've felt as though he should be "out there" fighting the good fight, not sitting around hiding out and allowing others to risk their lives instead.

So, even if Peter didn't deliberately sell out to Voldemort I think they still would've been discovered. Peter wasn't a very clever, brave or talented wizard so he might have inadvertantly disclosed their location to someone eventually. What if he got scared and decided to share the information with someone that he felt was trustworthy, such as Dumbledore, Sirius, or Lupin? That would allow for the possibility that they'd truly be another person in disguise (Polyjuice potion as we've seen before) or he might write down the address like Neville did with the passwords for the Gryffindor common room and thought that he'd lost them, even though the world was on alert because Sirius Black was believed to be a real threat at the time. Poor judgement that quite innocently could've led to disasterous consequenses. I could imagine Peter making a similar mistake.

If their location was discovered without Peter's betrayal, such as if they left the house, under the invisibility cloak for a bit of fresh air or if Peter gave the information to the wrong person, I believe that it would've led to the death of all three of the Potters. Harry only survived the Killing Curse because of Lily's sacrifice, but I doubt that she'd have had the opportunity to step aside, which Voldemort inexplicably offered to her. If they were taken by surprise and killed without warning then Harry would've had no such protection and would've been as vunerable as anyone else. He'd have just died; no life at Hogwarts or elsewhere. As for Neville, Voldemort would probably have gone after him next. He didn't know if Harry was the one that the prophesy applied to, since it could've been Neville as well I'm sure that he'd have wanted to kill him too. If Neville's family got in his way then he wouldn't hesitate to kill them.

Without James, Lily, and Harry, Dumbledore would've still challenged Voldemort. He claimed that he didn't put too much stock in prophesies, so he probably would've disregarded it and led the Order of the Phoenix against him anyway. At the time, the Death Eaters far outnumbered the members of the Order though, so it would've been quite discouraging for them. Still, the remaining Marauders would've been even more motivated to fight with an agenda to avenge their friends and child. I think that Dumbledore would've deduced that Voldemort had Horcruxes with or without Harry. He knew from Voldemort's own words about his mother's death that he himself feared death and during the war, someone or something would've "killed" Voldemort which Dumbledore wouldn't accept and the only explaination that would be that he had a Horcrux or Horcruxes. Dumbledore didn't allow the subject to be discussed at Hogwarts, which means that he was aware of them as a concept. It would be inevitable that he would conclude that Voldemort had at least one. Therefore the war would continue and the story could be told, just with a focus on different main characters and circumstances.
Reply:Thanks! It was a good question. =) Report It

Reply:Harry Potter would probably have gone to Hogwarts and been a normal person- most likely popular, but not famous. Adventures and misadventures would doubtlessly ensue, just as they do for everyone else- a bunch of magic teenagers cooped up in a school is bound to create problems and interesting situations. Neville Longbottom's parents would still be in St.Mungos', so he would live with his grandmother. The world would be dominated by Voldemort, just as it is in the sixth book. The Dursleys probably wouldn't play into the story very much at all, except for Petunia as Lily's hateful sister.Harry probably wouldn't know them very much at all- I doubt Lily and James would send their son over to visit very often. I assume James and Lily would still be married, and best friends with the other Marauders. They'd probably still all hate Snape, though I get the impression Lily barely tolerates him. The Order of the Phoenix would be on missions, trying to stop the Death Eaters, just as in the 5th %26amp; 6th books. Maybe Lord Voldemort would have gone after Neville instead, or he could be trying to kill Harry. Interesting questions....
Reply:I think Voldie would find out about the secret-keeping anyway, he would have used Legilimens. I think the only way Harry's life could have been different would be if Sirius had stayed as the secret-keeper. Because Wormtail isn't so strong a wizard. Voldemort might not have been able use him if he was a strong wizard.
Reply:Harry wouldn't have had a scar

Neville would have the scar or would be dead

Harry wouldn't have to put up with the Dursleys that much

The order of the Phoenix would still be running and they might be guarding Neville instead

He would have never had to do all the crazy things with voldemort at school. :)
Reply:But you know, even if Harry's parents wouldn't have been killed, the Prophecy about Harry being the one would have still existed. So I suppose Harry would have just been less famous or he would have enjoyed fame later, since the what made him famous in the first place was being able to resist Voldemort's curse. But that wouldn't have changed in any way the fact that he was still the one that the Prophecy refers to. So the war would have followed its course and Harry would have had to take his role in it seriously at some point anyway.
Reply:I reckon Voldie would have found a way to get to Harry eventually, but he would have had his parents to back him up. But then, of course, Voldie wouldn't have been partially vanquished for all those years, and he might have hurt alot more people.

The Dursley's would still be Dursleyish.

Since Bella, Rudolphus and Barty Crouch Jnr were the ones to torture Nevilles parents, I think the outcome would still have been the same.

The marauders may or may not have survived, I think Sirius would have wound up dead anyway, being as reckless as he is, and he might have dragged Remus down with him.

Personally, I think Snape would have killed everyone, kicked Voldemort's moldie backside and become KING OF THE WORLD!! And gone to live on some tropical island so he could lounge around all day in the sun, torturing seagulls and drinking mojito's.
Reply:there would have been no Harry Potter series !and J.K. Rowling woul've dismissed the idea if it cost her career!
Reply:i think warmtail has betrayed james and lily
